Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is disrupting the music industry matrix with his latest business endeavor. The “Junya” artist is directing his fans to StemPlayer.com to purchase his first Yeezy Tech product, according to a Twitter post he made on Sunday (Feb. 20).
The otherworld Model 1016 handheld device will be the only channel of choice for Ye’s album Donda 2. Upon a $200 purchase, the device will be shipped with Donda 2 already on it.
The Stem Player allows users to customize and split any song, while controlling vocals, instrumentation, and a variety of effects. Specs include Bluetooth, four touch-sensitive light sliders, 97DB speaker, and a 8GB storage.
Forever an outspoken supporter of artists’ freedom and rights, Ye chose this direction of distribution to balance the powers that major music companies have monopolized for so long. The polarizing star allegedly passed up a multi-million dollar deal with Apple to exclusively release on Stem Player.
“To earn the $2.2 million we made on the first day on the stem player the album would have had to stream 500 million times,” Ye updated his fans on Twitter. “We did more revenue on stem player, without the album even being out, than we would have done with the album being out on streaming.”
Donda 2 releases on Stem Player February 22, 2022.
