Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang is ending his campaign for the 2020 election.
If Yang would have won the presidential election he would have become the first Asian-American president in U.S. history.
A serial entrepreneur with a keen understanding of business, Yang launched his campaign without any experience in the political arena.
The 45-year-old garnered attention when he came up with the universal basic income plan “Freedom Dividend” that would provide all Americans with a $1,000 monthly stipend to balance the widening wealth gap and erosion of the middle-class.
“Being your candidate has been the privilege of my life,” Yang said. “Together we will continue to do the work and move this country forward, because the Yang Gang isn’t going anywhere.”
Yang seemed to be the only candidate that could relate to the tech generation.
Many of his supporters were cool people such as, Dave Chappelle, Elon Musk and Donald Glover.
He eventually had to end his bid after poor results from the Iowa caucus. He went on Twitter to thank his supporters, “I am so proud of this campaign.”
