Since people have been holed up in their homes, the creative energy has been flowing and the results are stupendous. If you haven’t figured it out yet, the party is on Instagram.
Between Torey Lanez and DJ Nice, we’e seen everything. But, what a wonderful service producers Mannie Fresh and Scott Storch did by going on IG Live to battle with their biggest and best hits. Song after song, the producers went head to head to see who could outdo the other.
Upon first listen, Scott Storch held it down in our opinion. But, after further review, we think there are some things that people should consider.
For one, Scott Storch played a lot of songs that he co-produced with other greats such as, Dr. Dre and Timbaland. Yes, he did put in the work, but how could one just glimpse over the fact that most of Mannie Fresh’s beats are produced by him and him only?
Two brains are better than one, so it wouldn’t be far-fetched for a Dr. Dre and Scott Storch beat to be a scorching hit. Yet, we find this to be an unfair reason to give Storch the throne in this battle.
Second, Mannie forgot to play a lot of his biggest hits. It was quite perplexing that he selected lesser known beats to compete with some of Storch’s most popular. What was going on, Mannie?
Third, Storch threw in some R&B and pop with the Chris Brown and Beyonce songs. Sheesh, how could Mannie compete with that? Was that in the agreement?
In conclusion, Scott Storch is a bad boy with some dope ass beats. He brings his A-game all the time and other producers should take note.
Mannie Fresh is a legendary southern producer. It’s no question that he has impacted a whole era of hip hop. But, we also want to see more from. We want to see him work with more artists outside of his network and in more genres.
Who do you think won the battle?
