With all the chaos that’s erupting around us lately, some of us have forgotten that people are still living their everyday lives and some of that consists of growing pains.
You would think that with the world in influx, more people would want to tap into their genuine selves and be kind to others. But, unfortunately, there’s still some jerks out there lurking for their next victims to devour and leave in shambles. To be honest, there are some gullible and naive folks that make it super easy for these predators to have their way.
Often, when I find myself slipping down the dark corridors of the rabbit hole of deceit, I have to tap into the wisdom of the OGs. The OGs are powerful women who represented independent minds, self respect, full bodies and even fuller pockets. They didn’t compromise their whole existence for acceptance by another person, especially if that person continuously showed a lack of respect for them.
In fact, they hardly ever tolerated losers. You know, the ones who talk a good game, but really when it comes down to it they’re the definition of lame. It’s not hard to categorize them, either. A simple “Pros and Cons” list will let you know right on the spot if he or she is worth your time. Again, I’m finding out, he ain’t worth my time.
So, in honor of the current lame in my life and the great, late Maya Angelou, I just want to remind the women and men out there who have heads on their shoulders and a purpose for existing…When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.
Don’t let the red flags turn into red lights, stopping your entire future because you’re so caught up in the person you can’t even see your approaching demise…
