Warner Bros. is looking for new actors for some very exciting roles in The Matrix 4 and The Batman.
The Burbank studio recently announced that they are looking for an actor to be cast as the young version of the Keanu Reeves’ character Neo in The Matrix 4. Previous reports indicate that a young version of Morpheus, played by Laurence Fishburne, is also needed.
Sources report that the film will maintain most of its original cast members, including actress Carrie-Anne Moss who played Trinity in the trilogy. Lana Wachowski is set to direct and co-write the new film, but so far there is no word on whether Lilly Wachowski will be a part of the project.
Warner Bros. CEO Toby Emmerich is thrilled to have Wachowski on board. “We could not be more excited to be re-entering the Matrix with Lana,” he said in a statement. “Lana is a true visionary, a singular and original creative filmmaker and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix.“
The Matrix, originally released in 1999, was directed and written by the Wachowski Brothers and became a major hit, winning 4 Oscars and rated as the #16 movie of all times on IMDB.
In other Warner Bros news, the studio is also looking for a woman of color to play the role of Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
This wouldn’t be the first time a woman of color played the DC Comics role. Halle Berry took her shot at the character in 2004’s Catwoman. Actress Eartha Kitt has also played the role for the US Television series Batman released in the 1960s.
Production is set for June 2021.
