University Of Kansas Issues Apology For Stripper Poles, Money Gun At Snoop Dogg Show

Snoop Dogg caused controversy at an annual preseason basketball event, ‘Late Night in the Phog’ at the University of Kansas when he performed with background dancers on stripper poles and shot a money gun over a teen to young adult audience.

The athletic director of the Kansas Jayhawks, Jeff Long, released an apology in a statement. “We apologize for the Snoop Dogg performance at Late Night,” Long said. “We made it clear to the entertainers’ managers that we expected a clean version of the show and took additional steps to communicate to our fans, including moving the artist to the final act of the evening, to ensure that no basketball activities would be missed if anyone did not want to stay for his show.”

During Snoop’s set, it appeared that the audience was very excited and engaged with the performance. However, the Kansas Jayhawks staff were disappointed that the rapper did not abide by their request to deliver a clean performance.

“That’s not the direction that anybody at our school would want that to go at all regardless of the entertainment that it provided many, it was still not the right way to provide the entertainment,” Jayhawks coach Bill Self said to reporters after the event.

Long further apologized, “I take full responsibility for not thoroughly vetting all the details of the performance and offer my personal apology to those who were offended. We strive to create a family atmosphere at Kansas and fell short of that this evening.”

Snoop Dogg posted a message on social media saying, “Thank. U for letting me be me. This is America.”

Fans left praises on the rappers Instagram page after the performance.

“Had a fantastic time, glad you came to Lawrence!” said Doctorjayhawk.

“You were awesome,” said Kenziegrl3.
