Perry partnership with Paramount/BET has evolved over the years, first signing a deal with Viacom in 2017, and later writing, producing, and directing the Tiffany Haddish led feature film Nobody’s Fool for Paramount Pictures.

As Viacom transitioned to ViacomCBS, Paramount Global, and then simply Paramount, Perry was rumored to be a contender for purchasing BET Media, a business move that would’ve made sense considering the amount of television series he produced for the company’s subsidiaries.

The new multi-year deal is non-exclusive and will enable Perry to continue to make content for Netflix, which he has done as part of a feature film deal with the Hollywood streamer. That deal eventually expanded into a multi-year, first look option freshly sealed at the top of 2024.

The Tyler Perry Studios founder has a lot of work ahead with his ties to Paramount and Netflix, along with operational duties back in Atlanta, Georgia where he runs one of the largest studio lots in North America.
