Atlanta police announced that the viral surveillance video showing the shooting of rapper King Von has helped them identify the shooter.
Timothy Leeks, 22, is facing felony charges for the murder of 26-year-old Chicago rapper King Von, born Dayvon Bennett. Leeks, also known as Lul Tim, was apprehended while receiving treatment for a gunshot wound at Grady Hospital and is now in police custody. He is the only person charged with the murder of King Von, so far.
Leeks was recently charged with attempt or conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, theft by receiving stolen property, and obstruction when police seized 15 pounds of marijuana, $16,000 and guns during an investigation in August.
In the video, a confrontation between two groups of men takes place outside of the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta early on Friday morning (Nov. 6). Eventually, the argument escalated to gunfire.
One on-duty officer working at the club and an off-duty officer saw the incident take place when they intervened with an exchange of their own gunfire. Three people, including King Von, died and three other unidentified men were taken to an area hospital to receive treatment for gunshot wounds.
While the Atlanta police considers the case closed with Leeks in custody, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case to determine if any of the victims of gunfire were hit by Atlanta police.
