Independent music artist, Johanna Dadap, is a breath of fresh air in a sea of concerns about the state and future of the world. The 19-year-old Filipino pop singer could choose to only focus on conventional topics that often riddle her genre of music, but instead, she’s taking a new direction as a sagacious songwriter with a purpose.
“When people see my work, I hope they experience what I feel about my art when I make it,” Dadap said in a statement. “I hope they feel how passionate I am to inspire them.”
Dadap’s latest single, “The World’s Gone Up In Smoke,” highlights a greater travesty that dwells quietly in the background of the noise that bombards us daily — climate change and a fading earth. The easy-listening song follows her 2021 singles, “Make You Happy,” “On Your Own,” and “When I See You,” all songs part of the emotional concourse of her poignant reflections that make up her discography.

As she’s done with many of her songs, Dadap offers her svelte vocals and calming acoustic guitar strumming on “The World’s Gone Up In Smoke,” in addition to heavy lyrics that pour out like a beautiful love letter to mother nature and planet earth.

Mixed and produced by Paul ‘Taffy’ White, who also contributes backing vocals, keyboard, electric guitar, bass, and additional instrumentation, the single blends the kick of a bluesy country sound and modern pop, and some would say even contains a tinge of contemporary inspirational threaded throughout.
Dadap is a self-taught musician with a specialty in music production and songwriting. A jack of many trades, she knows how to play multiple instruments, including piano, guitar, cajon, and ukulele. Her first music session was a private one that unfolded within the walls of her bedroom. Later, she would take her talents to a larger platform by publishing cover song videos on YouTube.
Years later, she has decided to make her music world-known by releasing original music pieces to a variety of music streaming outlets, including Apple Music and Spotify. Dadap is taking her singing career one step further with the release of an official music visual for “The World’s Gone Up In Smoke,” which was filmed and edited by Dadap.

Dadap’s keen sense of empathy for a cause greater than herself is an impressive disposition to have with just 19 years around the sun. Hopefully, the vocalist would be so gracious enough to deliver more songs with a similar theme to add to her blossoming discography.
