Howard University alumna Aisha Summers has been tapped to lead the latest ViacomCBS venture BET Studios, according to Deadline. Summers, who served as a development executive at Warner Bros. Television since 2008, started her Hollywood career working as an assistant at Paradigm Talent Agency for a year. The HBCU (Historically Black College or University) graduate would go on to obtain a Masters in Fine Arts from UCLA.
She would then spend the rest of her career at Warner Bros, where she would also serve in the capacity of VP of Scripted Programming at Warner Horizon Television during her 12-year tenure at the company.
Under ViacomCBS, the media conglomerate consists of Paramount Pictures, MTV Films, and Nickelodeon Animation Studio. There’s also the digital streaming ventures that include Paramount+ and BET+, a collaboration with Tyler Perry, as a part of a comprehensive streaming strategy that involves the reawakening of classic IP and a more diverse content slate.
