The Champ Mike Tyson Lends His Acting Skills To New Action Film ‘DESERT STRIKE’

Is this real? That’s what fans of boxing champ Mike Tyson are asking regarding his latest quest in the film world. DESERT STRIKE, an action pic from Premiere Entertainment and Rotana Studios, appears to be an international film starring Tyson and professional Icelandic strongman Hafþór Júlíus Björnsso as the character Frank.

Written by Karim Hassan Beshir, Tyson defends a community of people from an army of men with heavy artillery. There’s plenty of action, guns and explosions — giving the impression that Tyson is heading into the career extending action genre made famous by the likes of Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham and Steven Seagal.

That’s fair and well, but the independent film does seem to be a little bit low budget for Tyson’s stature. Tyson has managed to build quite a portfolio of acting credits that include The Hangover, Scary Movie V, Entourage, Meet The Blacks, A Madea Family Funeral and more. He’s currently working on two films that are in pre-production, including the role of Lucifer in the Gabriela Tagliavini film The Devil May Care.

DESERT STRIKE is produced by Mohamed El-Sobky with Karim Gawish as associate producer.

The pic is expected for release in 2021, although the platform has yet to be determined.
