A study on motherhood receives a horror comedy treatment in the new limited series The Baby.
Created by Lucy Gaymer and Sian Robins-Grace, The Baby follows 38-year-old Natasha, who is frustrated by all her friends having children, but then something unexpected happens as a baby literally lands in her hands. Natasha discovers that there’s something sinister about the mysterious baby and it won’t allow her to get her life back.
In the trailer, Natasha is shown being plagued with motherhood cliches and innuendos that further make her dread her new bundle of joy. With each revelation, it’s apparent that there’s some major twist, making the weird series even more intriguing.
This is the second series for newcomer Michelle de Swarte who plays Natasha. Also starring is Sinead Cusack (MotherFatherSon), Isy Suttie (Damned), Shvorne Marks (Endeavour), and Albie Hills, who plays the baby.
The 8-part series is the baby of Proverbial Pictures, Sister Pictures, and Sky. Along with Robins-Grace, executive producers include Nicole Kassell, Katie Carpenter, Naomi De Pear, Jane Featherstone, and Carolyn Strauss.
The Baby releases April 24 on HBO Max. Watch the trailer below:
