As a growing savant of classic music and a self-proclaimed hip hop head, anytime I can get the best of both worlds in one place, it’s like having a Symphony bar on a weighing scale that reads “Perfect.”
The YouTuber, ItsAMoney, or simply “A Money,” gave me that same feeling when he did an incredible cover of late rapper XXXTentacion’s culturally influential single, “Moonlight,” from his 2018 album ?. Instead of the routine singing cover, ItsAMoney played his violin in the tune of XXXTentacion’s vocals on the track.
A five-year resident of YouTube, the young Dallas, Texas violinist is known for his classical renditions of popular songs. In the past, he has covered Post Malone’s “Rockstar,” Bad Bunny and Drake’s “MIA,” and Halsey’s “Without Me.”
One of his most popular covers was of Billie Eilish and Khalid’s “Lovely,” garnering more than 19 million views to date. However, my favorite are his covers of XXXTentacion’s music, which he’s covered several times throughout the years.
Born Alan Milan, A Money’s dedication to his craft has earned him a total of 132,896,300+ views since he created his YouTube channel on July 2, 2017. His latest cover is of Justin Bieber’s “Anyone.”
