The 1994 TV mini series, The Stand, is getting an rebooted series treatment and we’re here for it. Based on the 1978 Stephen King book of the same title, the story explores the end of the world as a prophetic virus pandemic nearly kills off everyone on Earth.

Full of biblical references, The Stand comes at a time where the world is seeing life imitate art. Coincidence? We think not.

Created by Josh Boone and Ben Cavell, the CBS All Access adaptation will recreate the post-apocalyptic series with the inclusion of a new ending. King has been documented saying that he always wanted to change the ending of the novel. Boone and Cavell recruited the novelist to do just that. The new series will come with a completely different ending from the original.

It will be a 10-hour event series starring James Marsden as Stu Redman, Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Odessa Young as Franni Goldsmith, Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen, Natt Wolff as Lloyd Henreid and Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail.

The Stand is set for release on December 17. Hopefully, by then, life won’t still be imitating art and things will be better than just normal.
