Downtown comes alive, surrounded by static grey fortified high rises with glacier blue tinted windows.
The aroma of bacon wrapped hotdogs sizzling on the cooking sheet of a street cart seeps through the chilly night.
In the distance, lines of people align with rows of sleek lounges and hole-in-the-wall hot spots.
The sidewalks swell up with handsome men and beautiful women getting out of Uber’s, taxis and Lyfts with the euphoric smile of a Friday night at their fingertips.
If you’re guessing Chicago, NYC, Philly or something like that you’re not even close. Welcome to the new vibes of downtown Los Angeles or what the natives call DTLA.
Nestled just adjacent to the Ritz Carlton in LA is DLD.studio, headed by Dawn Lee and her amazing partners Sophiea and Yuki.
DLD.studio specializes in merchandise, digital media design and a multitude of other digital production and educational services.
Upon entering the studio, the staggering depth and height of the space are captivating. The angel white color of the 30-foot ceiling and walls makes the space feel nearly endless.
As the sheer white semi translucent curtains cascade down every inch of the 30 feet, it can not be overstated this room was curated with enormous attention to detail.
In the northeast corner of the room with a view overlooking an eastern view of LA is a cylinder vase filled with lavender sitting atop a lavender couch.
The tile, customized and imported, are blocks swiped with smoke gray to offset the rooms radiating white.
Lovely pieces are set throughout the room, including the full-size mirror with a vanilla white 3-inch thick fur set up as a place to relax and equipped for IG story videos.
Marble countertops in the kitchen space and the accentuation of the sinks complete the experience.
The second level of the studio is just as grand with a space great to look over the entire studio, as well as use for photography and filming.
Articles are framed on the wall along with a neon sign containing the slogan “Sexy Brain Loading”, giving incredible life to the space. The stunning cowhide piece in the upstairs space sits near the DLD merch draped on gold hangers.
Honestly, DLD.studio is a feng shui enthusiast’s or designer’s dream space.
All in all, the open bar equipped with Moët and a plethora of bottles, a bed of the traditional Spanish dish Paella Danny Devito could lay in comfortably, a selfie photo booth and live entertainment all culminated in an incredible event.
The start-up’s launch party had a great turnout and was an amazing way to close out the new year and there’s sure to be great things to come out of DLD.studio in the upcoming year.
