Spending Easter Sunday At Home Won’t Be So Bad With Joel Osteen’s A-List Lineup [Updated]

Update: The rumored music service performed by Kanye West’s choir has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns.

Joel Osteen and his Houston church Lakewood will be holding three cool Easter Sunday services featuring celebrity guests Tyler Perry, Mariah Carey and a rumored Kanye West.

Filmed on Friday (April 10), the services will be held online for viewers to see on Sunday, April 12 at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. PST.

Mariah Carey volunteered to be a part of the service with an intention to inspire frontline responders to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I have known Mariah from years past, and we’d talked about doing some things,” said Osteen in an interview with TMZ. “They actually contacted us because she wanted to show some support and honor to the first responder… and do her part to bring hope and uplift the nation.”

The phenomenal singer will be performing her hit 90s song “Hero” as a tribute. Director Tyler Perry will be speaking an encouraging word for the service. While it appears that Kanye West will deliver music from his popular Sunday Service choir.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo and Houston Fire Chief Sam Peña will be present for prayers and inspirational messages. The following statement was released by Lakewood Church regarding church services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We wanted to update you, as news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has been affecting people around the globe and now Houston. It has always been a priority for us to offer our members and our guests a safe and healthy environment to worship and take their next steps towards Jesus.”

The statement continues, “Since Lakewood draws such large numbers of both members, guests, and international visitors each week, Lakewood’s leadership has decided not to hold public services this weekend. Instead, Lakewood will broadcast its services exclusively online with some additional unique segments.”
