In the tradition of its predecessor, Marvel linked with various artists to bring Black Panther fans another stratospheric listening experience. The soundtrack to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever contains 19 music tracks created by some of the most eclectic musicians in the industry.
Led by the slow-tempo, in memoriam single, “Lift Me Up,” sung by Rihanna, and Tems’ rendition of Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry,” a song that was featured in the very first teaser trailer of the sequel, the soundtrack offers a colorful mix that celebrates the diverse representation in the film. Burna Boy shows up on the Afrobeat, dance song, “Alone,” while British artist Stormzy gives a heart-wrenching solo on “Interlude.”
Houston’s very own power couple, Tobe Nwigwe and Fat Nwigwe, brings fiery fury on the warrior track, “They Want It, But No.” It’s one of the standouts of the album next to “La Vida” by Snow Tha Product and E-40, and “Limoncello” by OG DAYV, who receives an alley-oop from Atlanta rapper Future.
Snow Tha Product’s “La Vida,” featuring E-40, is a fast-paced, bilingual hip hop song perfect for the merging of the Wakanda story with the rise of the kingdom of Atlantis, spearheaded by Namor.
Listen To “La Vida”:
“Limoncello” luxuriates in a dark, gritty beat full of hard-hitting bass. The lyrics are even more chilly as Future warns, “Livin’ this life as if life wasn’t promised / Take my advice and stay far away from drama / Big dog, it come with a price.”
Another inspiring song on the album comes from Fireboy DML, who offers soothing vocals for “Coming Back For You,” a heartfelt song that really drives the feeling of loss coming into the sequel of the popular Marvel franchise.
Listen To “Limoncello”:
The extensive list of artists featured on the soundtrack include Calle x Vida, Foudeqush, CKay, Bloody Civilian, Rema, PinkPantheress, Aleman, Blue Rojo, Vivir Quintana, Mare Advertencia, DBN Gogo, Sino Msolo, Kamo Mphela, Young Stunna, Busiswa, Adn Maya Colectivo, Pat Boy, Yaalen K’uj, All Mayan Winik, and Guadalupe de Jesus Chan Poot.
The MouthSoap Staff highly recommends this soundtrack in your playlists, right along with Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift, Danny Elfman’s Edward Scissorhands, Babyface’s Waiting To Exhale, and Hans Zimmer’s Inception. It’s just that good!
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be in theaters on Nov. 11.
