Shondaland’s ‘Bridgerton’ Returning For Second Season Of Scandalous Fun

Popular Netflix series Bridgerton will be renewed for a second season, according to an announcement made by Julie Andrews, who narrates as the series’ Lady Whistledown. To the excitement of fans, the Shondaland production’s news was released in show form as a letter in “Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers.” The letter reveals that Bridgerton will be returning for production in Spring, with the only insight pertaining to Lord Anthony Bridgerton.

“Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season,” the letter reads. “The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021. This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season.”

Production for Bridgerton begins Spring 2021 in the UK. The letter completes its announcement with a message to all the fanatical viewers who are hoping to learn more details about the second season.

“Before you set the comments section alight with requests for more sordid details, know that I am disinclined to report on the particulars at this time,” the letter continues. “Patience, after all, is a virtue.”

Season one of Bridgerton, created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes, released to the world on Dec. 25, 2020 and has been a hit with viewers ever since.  Set in the Regency-era in England, the romance drama centers on debutantes being prepped and courted to potential partners in the hopes of getting married.

The series follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the Bridgerton family, and the handsome duke Simone Basset (Regé-Jean Page). Both in need of each other’s help, the two strike a deal to pretend to court each other.  Daphne benefits by attracting the most worthy suitors and Simone gets to keep the society mothers away whilst avoiding marriage. Soon, the two discover that their scandalous secret is actually evolving into something more than they expected.

Based on Julia Quinn’s romantic novel collection, Bridgerton appeals to the masses for its diverse characters, wittingly charming dialogue, and salaciously juicy plots. Julie Andrews adds value to the series as the voice of the mysterious Lady Whistledown — giving the show even more zesty appeal.

The period piece is modernized by Bridgerton’s soundtrack, which consists of a hybrid of modern pop song covers played by an enchanting 19th-century orchestra throughout the episodes. Coupled with the phenomenal actors, intriguing period sets and wardrobe, the result is a phenomenally creative world of lusty love affairs and heart-dropping moments.
