HBO’s ‘Insecure’ Season 5 Farewell Trailer Shows Issa Taking A Trip Back To Stanford, Features Cameos Of Lela Rochon And Keke Palmer

Saying bye is hard to do, especially when you have to say bye to something good. Fortunately for Insecure fans everywhere HBO and Issa Rae softened the blow of Insecure entering its final season with a wholesome and reassuring trailer that epitomizes growth and closure.

The two-minute official trailer shows the ladies going to Issa’s real-life alma mater Stanford University to watch her participate in the alumni panel, “Finding Your Path: Advice from Alumni Entrepreneurs.” Ironically, Issa is still struggling to find her own path and, at times, even feels like she doesn’t have control of her own life.

There’s also glimpses of Issa’s former beau, Lawrence (Jay Ellis), enjoying life without her and a possible venture into the restaurant business with “Stacks Cafe.” Molly (Yvonne Orji), who is being pressured by family to find a partner, debuts a new au-naturel hairstyle. Kelli (Natasha Rothwell) appears to be the wise giver of life advice, and Tiffany (Amanda Seales) is happily entrenched in family life.

Keke Palmer and Lela Rochon also make a cameo during a quick flash of a scene that shows Lawrence’s love interest, Condola (Christina Elmore), holding a baby at a gathering…

Insecure, a series created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore about a group of Black women and their awkward experiences, premiered on HBO Max in Oct. 2016 to critical acclaim and the praise of many fans. By the end of season 3, which aired its last episode in Sept. 2018, the show announced a hiatus. Meanwhile, Issa’s star began to ascend to higher heights as she starred in films and invested in business ventures. The Emmy-winning series would not return back to air for season 4 until April 2020.

There’s so many questions to be answered and loose ends to be tied up, it will be interesting to see whether Issa Dee and Molly Carter will discover a love of self and love from a partner like no other. Whatever the conclusion, we are sure that it will be profound, fulfilling, and ratchet AF.

The final season of Insecure premieres Oct. 24 on HBO Max.
