Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation and Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation will be giving $1 million each to aid COVID-19 relief efforts.
The donations will go directly to assisting those on the frontline fighting the infectious respiratory virus.
Those supported include, “undocumented workers, the children of frontline health workers and first responders, and incarcerated, elderly and homeless populations in New York City and Los Angeles.”
The foundations will fund causes that assist the children of those in the healthcare profession and children in shelters.
“In times of crisis it is imperative that we come together as one community to ensure that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to critical needs: shelter, health, nutrition, and education. The only way to get through this pandemic is with love and action,” said Gloria Carter, the CEO of the Shawn Carter Foundation.
Within the last week, several news reports about health professionals quitting their jobs due to the pressures of coronavirus have surfaced.
Many of the complaints from doctors and nurses on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic are that there isn’t any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the shifts are stressfully long and there are limited supplies.
Hopefully, Rihanna and Jay-Z’s generosity will be an example to others who are wealthy to try to help, as well.
