Review: Zeus Network’s ‘The Conversation’ Is Salacious, Scandalous, And Pure Non-Sense, But I’ve Never Laughed So Hard

There’s a new guilty pleasure in town (actually, it’s been out for a minute — since 2020 to be exact) and it’s called The Conversation. Now, before we get into it, I can already tell you that this new series is a hot mess. However, if you’re the type of person that can see the glass half full, Zeus Network’s spicy original series is a productive way for contentious human beings to hash out their grievances without anyone dying.

Executive produced by Ray J, Princess Love, and Lemuel Plummer, The Conversation captures reality TV stars, social media personalities, and more as they go head-to-head in one-on-one conversations without any mediation from a host or producers. It’s like a Verzuz battle without the music, honey. The results are explosive.

The first season kicked off with Ray J and Princess Love confronting each other after a tumultuous public dispute over an incident in Las Vegas that subsequently led to rumors of divorce. The three-part episode premiered March 15, 2020 on Zeus.

The series returned in July 2020 with Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood co-stars A1 and Lyrica, a married couple on the reality show that had been considering divorce amid allegations of infidelity and toxic family members. Other face-offs that followed included Masika and Hazel E from Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, Tommie Lee and Akbar V from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Love & Hip Hop: Miami’s Bobby Lytes and social media personality Rolling Ray, and Bad Girls Club’s Natalie Nunn and Redd. The series is currently in its seventh season.

Let me warn you, you will be judged for watching this ratchet series. However, it’s reminiscent of The Jerry Springer Show’s good ole days in a WWE boxing match of words (and sometimes fists) type of way.

It’s salacious, scandalous, and pure non-sense, but I’ve never laughed so hard as I did when Bobby Lytes and Rolling Ray battled it out with such a mean roast, I had to take notes. This show is not for children and it’s not intended for you, the viewer, to go out in the world and reenact the behaviors shown on this series that’s meant to entertain! Oftentimes, the series crosses boundaries never-before-seen on television. You’ve been warned.

Like I like to say, I watch ratchet, I don’t live it!
