Remy Ma is set to star in the upcoming BET Original Film American Gangster Presents: Big Fifty – The Delrhonda Hood Story, directed by Russ Parr (35 and Ticking).
The film tells the real-life story of Detroit drug queenpin Delrhonda “Big Fifty” Hood as she transitions from a traumatized casualty of the grim streets to a shot caller running drug economics of the streets. Later, Hood would be arrested and incarcerated for drug trafficking, gun possession, and fraud. The film was adapted from the BET original series American Gangster, Trap Queens.
Not only will Remy Ma play the lead, but she will also lend her music talent to the pic with the new title track “The Godmother.” Prior to the BET project, Remy Ma appeared on television shows Queen of the South, Empire, and the 2006 animated series The Roaches. The “All The Way Up” rapper also appeared in the Craig Singer indie thriller 6:45 exclusively released to Regal Cinemas in early August.
Other actors starring in the film include R&B singer Durrell “Tank” Babbs, Wildlin’ Out’s Pretty Vee, All American’s Mike Merrill, All My Children’s Debbi Morgan, Ta Rhonda Jones (Empire), and Michael Anthony (Raising Dion). An uncut version of the pic will premiere on the streaming service BET+ on Thursday, Sept. 30th. BET and BETher will follow The BET Hip Hop Awards with a sneak peak on Tuesday, Oct. 5th. American Gangster Presents: Big Fifty – The Delrhonda Hood Story will make its television premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 6th at 8 pm EST.
