Never underestimate people. Coach K and Pee of the record label Quality Control Music are making some serious moves. The two bosses with headquarters in Atlanta recently inked a deal with unscripted programming trailblazer Critical Content (Who Shot Biggie & Tupac?, The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E).
Under the new deal, Quality Control’s TV and film banner, ran by QC exec Brian Sher, will create and produce new show concepts using their very distinguished talent roster, including Lil Yachty, Migos, Lil Baby, and City Girls. Critical Content will manage the pitching aspect of the process.
“We’re excited to pair Critical Content’s award-winning storytelling and production capabilities with QC’s talent roster, creative POV and proven ability to generate worldwide hits in any genre or medium,” Tom Forman, the CEO of Critical Content, said.
“I have been a fan of Tom’s work for many years and have recently gotten to know him on a personal level,” said Coach K. “He clearly understands the culture and knows how to develop the kinds of unscripted projects that Quality Films want to be a part of.”
Quality Control has markedly made an imprint in the realms of content creation with City Girls – The Series and Home Courts on YouTube. Kicking off the new partnership will be the unscripted legal series Equal Justice, which follow celebrities as they assist average people entrenched in the judicial system with obtaining better access to helpful resources.
Lil Yachty is one of the artists on the QC roster who has successfully transitioned into acting. Born Miles Park McCollum, the music artist has starred in Long Shot, How High 2, Dave, and the newly released Chillin’ Island. With QC partnering with Mattel Films, Lil Yachty will be producing a film based on the game Uno.
Meanwhile, the City Girls are currently working with Issa Rae on the scripted series Rap Sh*t, based on their rise in the music industry.
