Aries Spears passionately dislikes the current era of hip hop. The self-proclaimed “oldhead” and veteran comedian was on Vlad TV when DJ Vlad asked him to share his thoughts regarding the current state of hip hop, starting with the recent RICO indictment of YSL Records. However, Spears had no patience for the question, and instead ranted about the quality of rap music, nowadays.
“Trippie Redd, Kodak Black, Tekashi 6ix9ine, the Lost Boys, I don’t know who none of these gremlin n—-s is, man. This young generation, this garbage age of rap. If it ain’t J. Cole or Kendrick Lamar or Dave East, I don’t f–k with these gremlin n—-s, man.”
Then, Spears corrected himself, changing the Lost Boys to the Island Boys. Sliding further down the rabbit hole of dangerous territory, Spears took clout chasing an edge further by saying: “Cardi B is the female version of them n—-s.”
His opinion about Aubrey Drake Graham: “Drake’s just not my cup of tea.”
Perhaps the most interesting opinion within the nearly 8-minute interview was papa Vlad calling Kodak Black the new James Brown, but that opinion is arguably not as offensive as Spears nearly dismissing an entire generation of music. Again, “Oldheads” with “Old Ears” have no idea how much they sound like their parents.
