Stardom Wrestling confirmed that pro wrestler Hana Kimura has died at the age of 22. She was discovered on Friday. An official cause of death has not been released, however many are speculating that it may have been she may have taken her own life. Stardom released a statement:
“Stardom fans, We are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away. Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends. We appreciate your support during this difficult time.”
Before her death, the Japanese wrestler had posted messages on social media implying that she was being bullied. Kimura left cryptic messages on Twitter.
“Nearly 100 frank opinions every day. I couldn’t deny that I was hurt. I’m dead. Thank you for giving me a mother. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you to everyone who supported me. I love it. I’m weak, I’m sorry. I don’t want to be a human anymore. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you everyone, I love you. Bye.”
She followed the post with a photo of her with her cat and captioned it with the cryptic message “Goodbye.”
WWE superstar Paige expressed her concern about online bullying.
“This breaks my heart. The Internet can be a cruel disgusting place. RIP to this beautiful young woman.”
The daughter of famous pro wrestler Kyoko Kimura, Kimura first gained recognition as the title winner of the 2016 JWP Junior Plate and in 2019, joined the premiere pro women’s wrestling company Stardom Wrestling.
Kimura was also the star of Netflix’s Terrace House: Tokyo, a reality show that follows six strangers as they live in the same house in Tokyo.
