The mechanical engineer turned transformational executive that made a name for herself in the realm of business as the CEO of Xerox has been given a new gig. She will be on the board of directors at sports and entertainment agency Endeavor Group Holdings, joining the ranks of Tesla leader Elon Musk.

An engineering graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and Ivy League Columbia University, Burns, 62, came up in the infamous Baruch housing projects in New York. Later, she would intern at Xerox in 1980 before joining the company as an executive assistant. Her career would see advances through the ranks from assistant to vice president of global manufacturing, and finally to CEO. In 2009, she was crowned the first Black female CEO of a designated Fortune 500 company. Beyond loyal, Burns would stay with the company for nearly 37 years — and even find time to meet her late husband at the print and digital document company — before stepping down in 2017.

Burns has received many prestigious honorary degrees and served on several boards, while also spearheading STEM initiatives at the White House. Ranked the 22nd most powerful woman in the world by Forbes in 2014, Burns has certainly curated an unforgettable legacy in the game of business.
