In the wake of his untimely death, the late Pop Smoke made it to the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the first time as a solo artist.
Nielsen Music revealed that fans drove a 392 percent increase in streaming numbers for his music.
Pop Smoke’s single “Dior” landed at the No. 49 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 after curating over five million streams.
This is not the first time the Brooklyn rapper cracked the Billboard charts. His collaboration with Houston artist Travis Scott on “GATTI”, a song from the 2019 project JACKBOYS, took the No. 69 spot last year.
The “Dior” music video alone has garnered a whopping 26 million-plus views on YouTube over the last five months. The song comes from his last project Meet The Woo 2.
The shocking passing of the rising rap artist sent tremors through the hip hop community after Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was shot and killed at a Hollywood Hills home on Feb. 19. At only 20 years old, he was projected to be the next big name in hip hop.
The four home intruders that broke into the house Pop Smoke was in on the fateful night have yet be identified or arrested.
