NFL Will Honor Kobe Bryant At Super Bowl

The NFL announced that there will be a tribute to Kobe Bryant during the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 2nd.

Longtime NFL commissioner Roger Goodell revealed the news during a press conference.

“I don’t think just Los Angeles is mourning the loss of Kobe Bryant. Kobe was a special person,” Goodell said “I did have the opportunity to meet him. He obviously brought a lot to our world and I think all of us not only feel for the tragic events to his family but as well as everyone else who was a passenger on that helicopter. It’s hard to understand and it’s hard to process.”

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira suggested that their performances will deliver a meaningful message that Bryant would be proud of.

“We have to love people when they’re here and not wait,” Lopez said. “I think about Vanessa as a mom and losing her best friend and partner and losing her child, you know, how awful that must be for her right now.”

“I’m sure he’ll be very proud to see the message that we’re going to try to convey onstage,” Shakira said.

Also in tribute of the late, great Bryant, former Laker Shaquille O’Neal posted on Twitter that he will be donating proceeds from his Super Bowl event Friday Fun House to the families of the victims in the helicopter accident and the Bryants’ foundation.

O’Neal was heartbroken over the loss of Kobe and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. He even considered cancelling the event, but then decided to do it in order to celebrate the life of Kobe.

The Super Bowl championship game takes place on Sunday, Feb. 3 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
