Platinum recording artist Nelly says that when it comes to the guap, country music fans are more supportive than hip hop music fans. The “Country Grammar” rapper went on the Fox Soul show THE MIX to discuss everything from his upcoming album The Heartland to his stint on Dancing With The Stars.
When Jazz Anderson, the daughter of reality star Tami Roman and NBA veteran Kenny Anderson, asked Nelly if there’s a difference between country and hip hop fans, Nelly revealed that there definitely is, and it has a lot to do with money.
“If you want to get down to the nitty gritty, I mean, to be honest they spend more money,” Nelly said. “You want to talk about merchandise selling through the roof, you want to talk about presell tickets, you want to talk about anything that you slap your name on — when they support, they support.”
Nelly covered his tracks by also mentioning that hip hop fans bring just as much energy as country music fans. However, the rapper said that country fans are “more about his music,” whereas hip hop fans are more concerned about the artist’s story.
Nelly’s EP, The Heartland, is expected to drop over the Internet sometime in Spring.
