It looks like Hollywood is slowly putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to diversity. Sources are reporting that actress Naomie Harris and Marvel are in talks for her to play Spider-Man super villain Shriek in the sequel to Venom.
To be directed by Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams and Tom Hardy are confirmed to reprise their roles in Venom.
The script will be penned by Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey, Venom) and produced by Amy Pascal, Hutch Parker, Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad.
Harris currently is on the big screen with her cop-thriller film Black and Blue with Tyrese Gibson. Her resume is extensive with roles in Collateral Beauty, Moonlight, Southpaw, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom and Skyfall.
The first Venom was released in 2018, grossing a domestic total of more than $213 million. About 75 percent of the grosses were earned in the international markets, grossing $856 million worldwide. The production budget was a cool $100 million.
The sequel to Venom is slated for release in October 2020.
