As expected, the official trailer for the sequel to Marvel Studios greatly successful Black Panther was released during their San Diego Comic-Con Hall H presentation to much fanfare.
Opening to Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) peering out at the sea as music artist, Tem, sings a cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry,” sets the hybrid mood of loss and comfort. The emotionally gripping trailer revealed the onset of a major battle, with the Atlantis leader, Namor (Tenoch Huerta), summoning his underwater kingdom to face off with Wakanda.
Ramonda (Angela Bassett), the queen of Wakanda, is reeling over the lost of T’Challa, along with the rest of the nation who have a heartbreaking mural of the fallen warrior.
A nation is torn, a baby is born, and a new Black Panther is adorned. However, the details of exactly who is wearing the Black Panther suit is not revealed. Many fans speculate that Shuri (Letitia Wright) will be crowned the new Black Panther, making her the first female to do so.
Okoye (Danai Gurira), M’Baku (Winston Duke), and Ayo (Florence Kasumba), all return in the Ryan Coogler-directed film. Coogler co-writes with Joe Robert Cole, who also collaborated with him for the 2018 Black Panther.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to release in theaters on Nov. 11, 2022.
