Kevin Hart Wants To Do Modern-Day Version Of ‘Harlem Nights’ With Katt Williams And Mike Epps

Kevin Hart made a surprising revelation during an interview on Peter Rosenberg’s weekly pop culture show Open Late. The comedian revealed his aspirations to create a modern-day version of Eddie Murphy’s Harlem Nights with fellow comedians Katt Williams and Mike Epps.

“My dream is creating that Harlem Nights feel of film for today,” he told Rosenberg in the interview. “Harlem Nights had all these great f*cking actors that were comedic actors, comedians that were all in this IP (intellectual property) and it’s so iconic. We don’t have that with our generation.”

The Jumanji: The Next Level comedian vowed that this type of film will eventually happen. Hart’s dream group of comedians to star in the film includes Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Cedric The Entertainer and the two guys he had public spats with in the past, Katt Williams and Mike Epps.

Hart continued, “I would say Dave, Chris, Ced…Despite all of the dumb sh*t that has happened with your Katts and Mikes, there’s still people that move the needle. I’m not the grudge dude. So, if there’s a way to get passed the dumb shit and for them to see the greater of good…”

The original Harlem Nights is considered a classic among comedy film enthusiasts. Written, directed and starring Eddie Murphy, the all-star film featured some of the biggest and brightest comedians such as, Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, Robin Harris, Charlie Murphy, Della Reese, Arsenio Hall and Reynaldo Rey, to name a few.

The film told the story of the owner of an illegal New York gambling pub as he navigates the dark world of crooked cops, mobsters, and rising competitors. Despite mainstream critics rating the film worst screenplay, the 1989 film went on to nab an Oscar nomination and has become a cult-classic thanks to the originators of dope culture.
