Justice League actor Ray Fisher is calling out Warner Bros. again. Fisher, who pointed out the mistreatment he allegedly received from Joss Whedon while on set for the DC Film, took to social media to address the announcement of a “Black Superman” film that will be penned by new recruit Ta-Nehisi Coates.
Coates has two writing credits that include recently announced Wrong Answer and TV documentary Between the World and Me. Fisher finds the arrangement to be a strategy to undermine his past claims. JJ Abrams will join as director, as well.
“Do ya’ll remember that time Walter Hamada and @wbpictures tried to destroy a Black man’s credibility, and publicly delegitimize a very serious investigation, with lies in the press?” Fisher said in a post on Twitter. “But hey, Black Superman…”
Shortly after his tweet, WarnerMedia’s Katherine B. Forrest, who investigated the claims, discredited Fisher’s allegations in a statement.
“Once again there are false statements being made about our executives and our company surrounding the recent Justice League investigation. As we have stated before, an extensive and thorough third-party investigation was conducted. Our executives, including Walter Hamada, fully cooperated, no evidence was found of any interference whatsoever, and Warner Bros. did not lie in the press. It’s time to stop saying otherwise and move forward productively.”
Fisher didn’t take too kindly to the statement and responded back, saying that the message was “misleading and desperate.”
“As I’ve said from the start: Walter Hamada ATTEMPTED to interfere with the JL investigation,” Fisher stated. “He was unsuccessful in doing so because I did not allow him to. Having the investigator make a statement claiming there was no interference is purposely misleading and desperate.”
Others on Twitter had their own opinion about the exchange and the new announcement of a “Black Superman.”
Warner Bros. is currently promoting its two recently released films that include Judas and the Black Messiah and Tom & Jerry: The Movie.
