Jordan Peele’s ‘Candyman’ Moves To August 2021 Release

The classic hood horror film Candyman is receiving a new release date. The film has now been pushed back to next year on Aug. 27. The original release date was June 12, but moved back to September after theaters closed due to pandemic concerns.

The 1992 remake directed by Nia DaCosta is a “spiritual sequel” that chronicles the return to the now-gentrified neighborhood of the Cabrini Green projects.

In the teaser released for the film, Candyman delves into the origin of the story that is embedded in racism using the shadows of puppets to uncover the painful past of the hooked urban legend.

The Universal Pictures, MGM and Monkeypaw Productions film stars Teyonah Parris, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Colman Domingo, Vanessa Williams and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

Looks like we have another nine months to wait to see the rebirth of this cult goody, MouthSoap readers!
