Jennifer Lopez is bringing her complex love life to the silver screen in the Kat Coiro directed Marry Me. Written by John Rogers, Tami Sagher, and Harper Dill, Lopez plays global superstar Kat Valdez who is looking to start a power couple marriage with love adjacent Bastian, played by real-life music star Maluma, in front of a live audience.
When Bastian is caught in a compromising position with Kat’s assistant right before the planned wedding, publicly embarrassing her, she makes the ultimate decision to marry a random stranger named Charlie (Owen Wilson).
Cast includes Utkarsh Ambudkar, Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Fallon, Michelle Buteau, John Bradley, and Chloe Coleman.
The Universal film will consist of new original music from Lopez, including the first single “Marry Me.” Maluma, who is making his feature film debut, will also contribute new music to the project that’s set for a 2022 Valentine’s Day release.
Marry Me is produced by Lopez and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas of Nuyorican Productions, John Rogers of Kung Fu Monkey Productions, and Benny Medina (Hustlers, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air).
The film’s executive producers are Alex Brown, Willie Mercer, Pamela Thur and J.B. Roberts.
