Jay-Z And Pharrell Collab On New Song “Entrepreneur,” Visual Highlights Black Owners

Jay-Z and Pharrell have teamed up again to bring the masses an inspirational song about ownership. The song titled “Entrepreneur” is complemented with an inspiring video collage of local business owners.

Some of those featured include TyAnthony Davis, who founded Vox Collegiate Junior High, Vincent and Arlene Williams who are owners of Honey’s Kettle, Beatrice Dixon of Honey Pot’s feminine products, and Arthell and Darnell Isom who are owners of a Japan-based anime studio.

In an effort to show the versatility of black talent and their endless potential, the visual directed by CALMATIC contains cameos from the first black valedictorian of Princeton, the CEO of Tribe Midwifery and many more.

The visual even taps into the entertainment world, where Jay-Z and Pharrell highlight South Central LA stars such as, serial entrepreneur and rapper Tyler the Creator, media mogul and Insecure creator Issa Rae, and the great Nipsey Hussle.

Of course, Jay-Z couldn’t leave the listeners without words of wisdom. One of the top masters of business and entrepreneurship, Jay-Z cautions black people to not sell their culture for free, allowing others to profit off of black society. He tells the listeners to support black business. Instead of waiting for someone to help, start making a way for yourself.

See Jay-Z’s lyrics below:

Uh, lies told to you, through YouTubes and Hulus | Shows with no hues | that look like you do | Black Twitter, what’s that? | When Jack gets paid, do you? | For every one Gucci, support two | FUBUs Sipping crip-a-Cola | consumer and an owner, uh | Till we all vertically integrated from the floor up | D’Usse pour up, sip Ace till I throw up | Like gang signs ‘cept I bang mines for both ya | Serial entrepreneur, we own our own | stop Sitting ’round waiting for folks to throw you a bone | If you can’t buy the building at least stock the shelf (Word) | Then keep on stacking till you stocking for yourself, uh See, | everything you place after black | Is too small a term to completely describe the act | Black nation, black builder, black entrepreneur | You in the presence of Black Excellence, I’m on the board
