‘James Bond’ And ‘Indiana Jones’ Actor Sean Connery Passes Away At 90

Actor Sean Connery was surrounded by family when he died “peacefully” in his sleep overnight. The actor known for his role as the unforgettable 007 agent James Bond passed away while in the Bahamas, according to his son Jason Connery. He was 90.

“We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time,” Connery’s son said in a statement. “A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor.”

Born Thomas Sean Connery in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, Connery worked many odd jobs that involved coffin polishing and delivering milk, before deciding to pursue acting at 23.

The Finding Forrester actor has a total of 94 acting credits under his belt. Connery appeared in seven James Bond films between 1962 and 1983, including Dr. No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, and Never Say Never Again.

The Scottish actor also played the role of Professor Henry Jones in the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. His five decade career amounted to 37 awards, including an Academy Award, Golden Globe award, and AFI Life Achievement Award, and 29 nominations. In 2000, Connery earned his knighthood for his accomplishments, changing his name to Sir Sean Connery.

Connery is survived by his wife Micheline Connery and two sons Stephane and Jason.
