Italy Coronavirus Death Toll Reaches Alarming Rate At 475 Deaths In 24 Hours

The country of Italy is reporting an alarming rate of deaths as a result of coronavirus.

Italian officials are reporting 475 deaths within the last 24 hours, the nation’s highest number of fatalities in a day. This is despite having more doctors and hospitals per capita than most countries.

The death toll has reached over 2,978 people, almost as much as China, the origin country of the virus, with a reported 3,237 deaths.

The country is currently on lockdown requiring everyone to remain in their homes. Any violation of the mandated lockdown would result in a citation. So far, there have been 8,000 citations issued.

There are a total of 35,713 reported cases of coronavirus in Italy. Beyond Italy, the virus is making a worldwide impact. Iran has a total of 17,361 cases with 147 deaths. Spain has 14,769 cases with 105 deaths. Then, Germany comes in with a total of 12,327 affected by the virus and only two deaths.

At the moment, the United States has 9,301 cases with 43 deaths reported. Around the world, there are a total of 218,9052 coronavirus cases and 8,952 deaths.

One stat that is not being reported often by media is that out of all these cases, 84,795 have recovered. Most of the people who died from COVID-19 were the elderly ranging from age 50 and up.

People with the virus have a higher mortality rate if they have pre-existing conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, hypertension or cancer.

Mild cases typically have symptoms that last for approximately two weeks, while more severe or critical cases can last up to six weeks. Common symptoms to watch out for include fever, fatigue and dry cough.
