With all the fodder surrounding Netflix and its business operations, the big red “N” can still flex its muscles when it comes to content. The streaming service is doing as promised, rolling out star-studded films over the remaining quarters of 2022. In the month of June, Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson’s bromantic action comedy The Man from Toronto will be available to subscribers.
The silver screen-worthy pic directed by Patrick Hughes (The Hitman’s Bodyguard) is about a case of mistaken identity after an Airbnb salesperson mixes up a regular guy with the world’s deadliest assassin, widely known as “The Man from Toronto.”
In the hilarious trailer, Hart’s oblivious character shows up at the rented habitat to discover a battered hostage in the basement that he is supposed to torture at the behest of some intimidating men who think Hart is the assassin. Hart’s run-in with Harrelson, who is the real assassin, leads to him having to keep the identity facade going for the assassin’s clients.
Jason Blumenthal, who has previously worked with Harrelson on Seven Pounds and Hart on The Upside, is credited for the story alongside scribe Robbie Fox, with Chris Bremmer, producer of Hart’s The Wedding Ringer, also contributing to the screenplay.
The Man from Toronto drops June 24 on Netflix.
