Howard University And Amazon Team Up To Launch Howard Entertainment

Amazon Studios is in the business of diversity. On Friday, the Amazon.com subsidiary announced that it will be partnering with the historically black college Howard University to create a program called Howard Entertainment.

Set to begin in January 2020, the program will train Howard University students in TV and film, including development, entertainment law, marketing, finance and public relations.

Over two semesters, students will gain experience working alongside entertainment professionals in the Los Angeles entertainment market. Amazon Studios intends to bring more diversity to the industry and Amazon Prime Video.

“Amazon Studios has been working to create new pathways into the industry for talented students of all backgrounds and we are proud to team with Howard on this new program supporting aspiring entertainment leaders” said Amazon Studio Chief Jennifer Salke. “As we strive to delight our Prime Video customers, we’re ensuring there are diverse perspectives and experiences around the table to help us make the best decisions in all aspects of the business.”
