Hollywood Legend Betty White, 99, Passes Away On Last Day Of 2021

Betty White has passed away at the age of 99 from natural causes. The beloved bubble of energy, who would’ve turned 100 on Jan. 17, has managed to outlive most of her Hollywood cohorts. The Golden Girls actress known as Rose was the last one standing among the series regulars that included Dorothy (Bea Arthur), Blanche (Rue McClanahan), and Sophia (Estelle Getty).

The first to transition was Estelle, who died in 2008 at the age of 84. In 2009, Bea passed away at the age of 86. The following year, Rue died at the age of 76.

Betty White, on the other hand, continued to work in Hollywood, building upon her already extensive acting resume. After The Golden Girls, the spunky senior went on to be featured in several TV series, such as Bob, Ladies Man, That ’70s Show, Boston Legal, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Hot in Cleveland, and various films.

Born on Jan. 17, 1922 in Oak Park, Illinois, White got her start in Hollywood in the 1940s in a short called Time to Kill. Soon, she would land a role as the phone girl for variety interview series Hollywood on Television. Although she starred in many more series, she made a big impact as Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, where she was featured on 45 episodes.

During her lifetime, she won a Grammy for “Best Spoken Word Album” with If You Ask Me (And of Course You Won’t), and a total of five Emmy Awards, including two “Outstanding Continuing Performance by a Supporting Actress” for her character Sue Ann Nivens on Mary Tyler Moore (1970), “Outstanding Guest Actress” for her role on Saturday Night Live in 1975, “Outstanding Lead Actress” on The Golden Girls (1985), and “Outstanding Guest Actress” on The John Larroquette Show (1993).

She was nominated for a Golden Globe four times in the 1980s, awarded the 2014 Guinness World Record for being the female artist with the longest career, and received the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. White received her star on the Walk of Fame on February 1988.

White, who married three times and never had children, is known for bring joy to the world with her electric smile and bubbly personality. She had a love for junk food, animals, and a good naughty laugh. For years, people have tried to unlock the secret to her long life. The witty actress said that she exercises, just not in the conventional way.

“I have a two-story house and a very bad memory,” she said in an interview with BEONDTV.

But, she attributes most of her longevity to doing what she loves. Rest in peace, Ms. Betty White.
