It’s the Tunes vs. Goons in the new high tech trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy. The Warner Bros. pic starring LeBron James is prepping for a worldwide release in theaters on July 16 and on HBO Max.
Directed by Malcolm D. Lee, LeBron and his young son Dom are trapped in a digital space by a rogue A.I., LeBron must get them home safe by leading Bugs, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory over the A.I.’s digitized champions on the court: a powered-up roster of professional basketball stars as you’ve never seen them before.
The high-stakes challenge will redefine LeBron’s bond with his son and shine a light on the power of being yourself. The ready-for-action Tunes destroy convention, supercharge their unique talents and surprise even “King” James by playing the game their own way.
The animated, live-action features Oscar nominee Don Cheadle, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, Whitney Coleman, Chris Paul, Draymond Green, and Jeff Bergman, Gabriel Iglesias, and Eric Bauza as the voices of the Looney Tunes Cartoons.
The screenplay was penned by Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Keenan Coogler, and Terence Nance. LeBron James’ SpringHill Company Production produced the film, collaborating with the prolific director and producers Ryan Coogler and Maverick Carter. Justin Lin, Allison Abbate, Spencer Beighley, Jesse Ehrman, Jamal Henderson, Sev Ohanian, and Nance. The music was orchestrated by Hans Zimmer and Kris Bowers.
If moviegoers are lucky, perhaps the movie theaters will provide a two-for-one deal that gives viewers the opportunity to watch the 1996 Space Jam, starring Michael Jordan, before watching the LeBron James pic.
