The plot thickens for those who are posting disparaging messages about the newest addition to the Space Jam franchise. LeBron James jumped on Twitter to send a message to all those that doubted him with a simple, “Hi haters,” captioned with a validating Deadline article.

The reviews pouring in have ranged from mediocre to magnificent. Yet, the NBA player is sifting right through the opinions and straight to the money. As of the Saturday box office gross reports, the SpringHill Entertainment pic chalked up an estimated $32M opening weekend, with $13.1M made on Friday at 3,965 theater locations.

Space Jam’s performance blew the Disney Marvel film Black Widow out of its spot as the No. 1 film for the weekend of July 16. In its second week out, Black Widow made an estimated $8.03M on Friday, dropping in grosses from the previous Friday by 79.7%, one of the highest among MCU IP.

Still, Black Widow maintains one of the highest opening box office numbers with a $39.5M opening Friday and cumulative box office of $113.7M, followed by F9: The Fast Saga ($29.8M opener, $151.9M total box office) and A Quiet Place Part II ($19.3M opener, $152.7M total box office).

The 1996 Space Jam movie starring Michael Jordan opened at $27.5M and grossed $230.4M worldwide. While the pic made 39.2% of its grosses in the U.S. ($90.4M), most ticket sales were made overseas grossing over $140M.
