At last, it’s that time of year again for comic book, anime, and animation fans to take a load off and fellowship together at the annual event, San Diego Comic-Con International. Bouncing back from a two-year hiatus incurred by worldwide public health concerns, the SDCC is speculated to exceed expectations with some pretty big panels and exhibits on the horizon at the Southern Cali conference center.
On the Marvel Studios front, the pending Nov. 11 theatrical release of the highly anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda, along with an upcoming Spring 2023 slate holding Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, and an untitled feature in the arsenal, studio head Kevin Feige has a lot to cover — especially since the studio is fresh off Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder. There’s sure to be some exclusive footage reveals and cool talent appearances during MCU’s monopoly over the infamous Hall H on Saturday, July 23 from 5 PM to 6 PM.

Other noteworthy Marvel moments taking place throughout the five-day event involve a MCU panel discussing the life of Stan Lee on July 21, a Marvel Comics panel with editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski on July 22, and an exclusive look at X-Men 97, Marvel Zombies, and What If…?, hosted by Marvel execs Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television and animation, and Ryan Meinerding, head of visual development, also on July 22.
On the other side of the universe, Warner Bros.’ DC Films has already planted a stake in the ground with the announcement of Dwayne Johnson and Zachary Levi being in attendance for their Hall H presentation in the morning hours of July 23 to promote Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, respectfully. A special video presentation and Q&A for new series The Sandman, set to release on Aug. 5 via Netflix, will follow the Warner Bros. program.
Speaking of Hall H presentations, Friday’s schedule is jam-packed with back-to-back heavy-hitters, kicking off with the cast of Prime Video’s The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power. Next, AMC will host a two-hour shindig covering the final season of The Walking Dead and a derivative of the flagship series, Tales of the Walking Dead.
Keanu Reeves will be on deck for an exclusive look at BRZRKR, followed by a chance for fans to watch the first 20 minutes of the upcoming film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and the almighty presentation by Kevin Smith, who will be presenting Lionsgate pic Clerks III. SDCC winds down on Sunday, July 24 with screenings and Q&A panels from FX’s Mayans M.C. and What We Do in the Shadows.
With the fanatic tenacity of Comic-Con enthusiasts who are eager to get back to normalcy after two years of Comic-Con@Home, Comic-Con 2022 is a lot to look forward to. Comic-Con runs from July 21 through July 24, with preview night on July 20, at the San Diego Convention Center.
