From Visual Album ‘Lemonade’ To Netflix Film ‘Homecoming,’ Parkwood Ups Ante With AMC Release Of ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé’

As a true and humble student of her craft, Beyoncé has worked her way up from being an actress, starring in films such as Austin Powers in Goldmember and Dreamgirls, to now widening her scope to curation of her own films as producer, director, and beyond. The “MOVE” singer released the trailer to Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé, a film that will be receiving silver-screen treatment at AMC theaters this winter.

Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé will showcase the stars journey throughout the Renaissance World Tour from its very beginning in Stockholm, Sweden, to its grand finale in Kansas City, Missouri. The film will delve into untold stories of the tour’s development and production from the creative mindset of Beyoncé.

This is not the first time Beyoncé has expressed her creativity through film. In 2013, Beyoncé surprised fans with Life is But a Dream, an autobiographical film she executive produced, co-directed, and released on HBO under her production banner Parkwood Entertainment. Three years later, she famously released a 65-minute visual on the same network to complement her album Lemonade.

The experiences emboldened the superstar mother of three to create the Emmy-nominated concert film Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé, following her journey to the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The spectacular production highlighted Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), paying homage to their cultural traditions of trendsetting marching bands, dance, and fashion, along with a nod to the Divine Nine Black Greek Letter sororities and fraternities. Homecoming released on Netflix in 2019 to great critical acclaim, solidifying Beyoncé several times over as a force in the music film space.

Based on Beyoncé’s 2023 album of the same name, Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé will exclusively be available in AMC Theatres on Dec. 1, with Thursday night previews on Nov. 30.
