Since the whole political debacle and social upheaval of 2020, it’s become a common theme for people to “hate watch” Fox News — just ask people from the younger demo. Coupled with the support of diehard watchers that actually agree with the views of the network, Fox News has been named the most watched cable news network for the month of August. The title places a more conservative Fox News ahead of liberal-leaning rivals CNN and MSNBC.
The network garnered an average of 1.42 million viewers in total day, and 2.47 million viewers in primetime, decreasing by nearly one-third of its viewership obtained in August 2020. The top viewed shows on Fox News are Tucker Carlson Tonight (3.3 million), The Five (3.11 million), Hannity (3 million), The Ingraham Angle (2.39 million), and Special Report with Bret Baier (2.19 million).
CNN is lowest and third among its competitors, reeling in 621,000 in total day and 819,000 in primetime. The network’s schedule include At This Hour with Kate Bolduan, CNN Newsroom, The Lead with Jake Tapper, The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, Erin Burnett OutFront, Anderson Cooper 360, Cuomo Prime Time, and Don Lemon Tonight.
MSNBC sits comfortably in between the two networks, with an average of 732,000 viewers in total day and 1.23 million in primetime. MSNBC’s lineup includes Rachel Maddow, Morning Joe, Deadline White House, 11th Hour, MTP Daily, The Beat, The ReidOut, All In, and The Last Word.
