There’s plenty of colleges around the nation that have famous alumni and well-known students in attendance, but the University of Southern California appears to be a pipeline for Hollywood and pop culture’s elite.
Ironically, the prestigious private research university founded in 1880 is located at University Park just south of Downtown Los Angeles, surrounded by the I-10 and I-110 freeways, a few blocks from highway bridges that house a multitude of the homeless living in tents and a part of Figueroa Street that’s infested with human trafficking and sex workers. Yet, the cardinal and gold university appears to be worlds away from what’s going on around its parameter.
One reason could be its notable alumni that includes astronaut Neil Armstrong, WNBA player Lisa Leslie, filmmaker George Lucas, and actress Regina King. In recent years, the admitted are even more popping with reality star Rob Kardashian, rapper Saweetie, and Corinne Foxx, an actress and daughter of Jamie Foxx, joining the extensive list of Trojans graduating from the top-ranked school.
The new kids on the block attending the university in 2022 are even more spectacular. In recent years, Sasha Obama, Asia Rochon Fuqua, Natalia Bryant, and Storm Reid have been photoed in and around campus.
Natasha “Sasha” Obama, daughter to the 44th President of the U.S. Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, is rumored to have transferred to USC from the University of Michigan in the midst of the pandemic. At the top of the year, the 20-year-old was spotted strolling around what appeared to be the USC campus. Her major is currently unknown.
Asia Rochon Fuqua, daughter to director Antoine Fuqua and actress Lela Rochon, is currently enjoying her freshman year at USC. Although she has been successful at maintaining a low profile, it’s only a matter of time before word gets around. Hey, the town is small.
Another daughter of a famous person that can be seen roaming the campus is Natalia Bryant, the daughter of the late Kobe Bryant. The 19-year-old is pursing a degree in film studies. Her good friend, Storm Reid, also attends the university. Reid is best known for her acting roles in 12 Years a Slave, A Wrinkle in Time, and Euphoria. Not that she needs it, but Reid is enrolled in the School of Dramatic Arts.
With Sasha, Asia, Natalia, and Storm representing the ladies on campus, their presence is bound to enrich USC’s social credibility and reputation.
