It’s no secret that Nick Cannon loves to talk. The gift of gab has catapulted him into high places — one of those high places being the Drink Champs. The NCredible Entertainment founder kept it more than “100” when he interviewed with no holds barred hosts N.OR.E. and DJ EFN. Here are a few things we learned about Cannon, straight from the source.
5. It’s Nicki Minaj Over Cardi B
During the popular “Quicktime with Slime” game where guests of Drink Champs have to pick one out of two options presented by N.O.R.E. or chug a shot of alcohol if the guest pleads the fifth. In a battle of top female rappers, Cannon answered without hesitation that he prefers Nicki Minaj over Cardi B, period. Interesting choice considering the controversy surrounding the “Fly” superstar. Cannon didn’t provide a detail explanation, but we figure he selected Minaj for her music hits and rhymes.
4. Cannon Got His Heart Broken By Kim K.
When it comes to the Kardashians, Cannon only has four words, “Beautiful family, good people.” But, with some peer pressure from the hosts, Cannon gave listeners a little bit more to nibble on. He admitted in a rather jokingly way that his former flame Kim Kardashian “broke his heart.” When N.O.R.E. mentioned Kanye West, Cannon blurted out, “I introduced them.” Apparently, Cannon started dating Kim K. after she split with singer Ray J. The infamous sex tape came out during Cannon’s “serious” relationship with her and it ultimately was the cause of their breakup after Cannon heard several rumors. According to Cannon, he was affronted by Kim K. continuously denying that the tape existed.
3. Tupac Is Legendary, But DMX Prayed For Cannon
Although he respects Tupac Shakur and feels the hip hop artist and actor is one of the most influential Black men in the last 50 years, Cannon would pick DMX over Tupac. His reasons why — he actually knew DMX from meeting him over multiple occasions. But, there was one particular time DMX reached out to Cannon to encourage him when he was going through a hard time, and even prayed for him.
“Women loved [DMX] and men respected him,” said Cannon. “I admire Tupac. I love X.”
2. He Doesn’t Drink Alcohol, But Doesn’t Oppose The Blunt
Cannon is all about that healthy, holistic life. One of the ways he keeps himself in good shape is by saying no to alcohol. It’s how he’s able to keep up with his hectic schedule that has included serious hat-wearing across several projects, such as Wild ‘N Out, The Masked Singer, various hosting duties and acting roles, and running his new talk show that premiered Sept. 27. But, when it’s time to wind down, Cannon doesn’t oppose a blunt every now and again. It’s natural. It’s legal in some states. And it’s a great way to medicate anxiety, body aches, and more.

1. Cannon Walks The Walk & Talks The Talk
Hollywood gets a bad reputation for worshipping fodder and flaccid ideologies. However, Cannon rebuts this stereotype when he opens his mouth (most of the time). In the beginning of the interview, Cannon wisely navigates conversation surrounding his podcast debacle in which he made statements about Jewish people that spurred controversial headlines. A true professional, Cannon kept it quite diplomatic and intelligent when he discussed society’s obsession with cancel culture.
He stated, “It’s really an opportunity for education. And I always say it ain’t about cancel culture, it’s about counsel culture.”
Cannon is far from simple. Despite becoming a millionaire as a young man, Cannon chose to pursue an education at Howard University. In 2020, he graduated from the HBCU with a bachelors degree in criminology and a minor in Africana studies. He’s even considering a Ph.D. in the near future.
Nick Cannon can be seen on his daytime talk show of the same name weekdays on Fox and CW.
