Eddie Huang’s latest production, Tuna Melt, has attached some pretty serious talent to its cast. Grammy-winning singer, SZA, and Euphoria actress, Chloe Cherry, are the latest to be added to the feature film. Written and directed by Huang, Tuna Melt follows a hitman that unexpectedly falls in love after going through a breakup and finishing a hit job.
The pic will be SZA’s feature film acting debut. In the past, the “All the Stars” singer dabbled in film as a contributor to film scores and soundtracks, such as those for Black Panther, I Feel Pretty, Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Dear Evan Hansen, and Scream.
Cherry’s rise stems from a lucrative career in the porn industry and as a model. She starred as the character Faye on Euphoria’s second season. Cherry appeared in seven episodes on the HBO series. Huang is also set to star in the film, however other casting details have yet to be revealed.
Huang, the muse for the popular television sitcom Fresh Off the Boat, is developing the project following the success of his directorial debut, Boogie, a coming-of-age basketball drama centering on an Asian player by the name of Alfred “Boogie” Chin as he pursues his NBA dreams in Queens, New York.
Huang is executive producer, along with Dave producer Scott Manson, Scooter Braun and James Shin of SB Projects, and Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Company.
