Drake has taken to Instagram to react to the latest news surrounding the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld Festival in Houston on Nov. 5.
“I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” the post on Drake’s Instagram profile said. “I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself. My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and will be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all.”
Drake’s message comes on the heels of a few lawsuits filed by festival attendees who are claiming they were injured by the fiasco that left eight people dead.
Not surprisingly, civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump is spearheading some of the lawsuits against Live Nation, event venue NRG, concert promoter Scoremore, Travis Scott, and Drake, who, at one point, was performing on the stage with Scott. The lawsuit claims that the defendants practiced “conscious disregard of the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers that had been escalating since hours earlier.”
Kristian Paredes, another person filing a lawsuit, is alleging that the two artists incited a riot and encouraged violence and is using Scott’s past behavior as an indicator for causing the crowd surge at the third annual Astroworld.
Meanwhile, Scott and his team have offered to pay funeral expenses, cooperate with authorities as the investigation continues, and refund money to attendees who were impacted by the events of Nov. 5 and the cancellation that followed on Saturday.
